This engagement portrait session was kind of a big deal for me. It is a big deal because Lauren (the bride) is one of my best, best friends in the entire universe. In fact, we have a nickname for each other, and it is “twiin.” She and I are cut from the same cloth (so-to-speak), so having the privilege of capturing her and David’s very important engagement portraits was a HUGE honor. Lauren, is in the wedding industry as well (working as a design consultant at Pure Lavish Events), so naturally she had all sorts of amazing ideas for her session. She and David love the outdoors (camping, visiting the snow with their pup Oakley, going to the range, etc.) so doing an extra “outdoorsy” shoot was a must. We decided to do their session up in Idyllwild, CA and it was oh-so-gorgeous. Snow, tall trees, rocks, mountains, and did I mention snow?
Lauren and David have been together for 4 years meeting through mutual friends. David proposed to Lauren on her birthday in November at the picturesque Ponte Winery. They have a chocolate lab named Oakley, and they have chosen a B-E-A-U-TI-FUL location to say their vows and celebrate their union. And guess what? It is a newly opening (so not yet opened), outdoors location in Temecula called Temecula Creek Cottages. As you will see in the highlight below, Lauren will be designing the details of her wedding to a “T.” She is a wonderful craft master with a great eye (seriously, if you are also planning a wedding you need to call her) so I have no doubts she will create some one-of-a-kind pieces.
Now…without further delay, please enjoy a few of my favorite photos of the day. (To view more, click here.)
Location: Idyllwild, CA
Props/Themes: Since the couple both love the outdoors, they wanted to choose a more relaxed location that reflects them as a pair. Flannel was a fashion choice of theirs which complimented the look and feel of what they were going for. Lauren ordered the “You are my greatest adventure” sign from Etsy, the “blanket” is a actually a favorite scarf of hers, and the red lantern was a design choice to add a pop of color.
